Whistleblower

We zealously pursue whistleblower bounties and other recoveries when institutions engage in fraud, deceitful trade practices, or other unlawful activity.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has awarded more than $400 million to whistleblowers since the inception of the agency’s whistleblower program in 2011. The department of justice showed recoveries of over $3 billion in settlements and judgments for the fiscal year ending September 2019, and in 2019 alone, the government paid out whistleblower rewards totaling $265 million.

We believe in pursuing meritorious cases on behalf of whistleblowers. We help potential whistleblowers evaluate their case and, in appropriate cases, make a compelling submission that maximizes the change of a successful government action and corresponding payout for the whistleblower.

Whistleblower cases are often very complex. We are extremely selective in our whistleblower practice. We only submit cases that we thoroughly vet and carefully prepare for submission. We believe the best submissions are carefully considered and compellingly presented, maximizing the likelihood that the government “intervenes” and pursues the action. Steve Councill, the leader of our whistleblower team, spent years in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement division. Steve led and conducted numerous investigations during that time. Steve applies his experience to the whistleblower practice at Councill, Gunnemann & Chally.

For a confidential case evaluation, please contact us. We will not charge you for an initial consultation. And if we mutually select to go forward with your case, our arrangement generally provides that our legal fees are paid by you only if you recover, as a percentage of that recovery. We handle whistleblower cases in all 50 states.
